Be the Solution

Have you ever noticed how people are quick to tell you what’s wrong with something or what they are against?  It is easy to say what you don’t like or think needs to be changed (or not changed). We need to do this in order to make progress and continually grow.  However, are your complaints problem centered or solution centered?  Here is the rub about complaining.  When you complain, you have a responsibility to find a solution!  If you don’t like something, seek an answer for the problem.  When you complain and tell everyone what you are against and don’t have a positive solution, you are just bitching and not making a positive change.

Positive change comes from being solution centered.  Unrest and negativity is a result of being problem centered.  Unfortunately, one of the issues with social media and the internet is how easy it is to be a problem centered person that spouts off about what is wrong with something and stops typing short of an alternative plan that is solution centered.  These “computer cowboys” find courage behind their keyboards, but don’t have any answers, just complaints. Complaining without an alternative plan reveals  a flaw in your character and leadership abilities.  You are taking the easy way.  You don’t like something and you shoot out an opinion as to what you are against.  This provides nothing positive or productive.

Tell the world what you are for! If you are against something, you must be for something else.  Have the courage of your convictions and tell us what you are for.  This is being solution centered.  You have gone from being part of the problem to part of the solution.

We tend to find what we seek.  When we seek problems, we find them.  You want proof.  Look at your social media and community, it always tends to be the same people that are complaining.  Coincidence, I think not!  If we seek solutions, we find them.  The people that take action and make change don’t waste time expounding on the problem. They recognize the problem and start to work on the solution.

When you don’t like something, it is fine to voice your opinion. BUT, now you have an obligation to find the solution that brings about positive change.  If it is bad enough to complain about, it is important enough to do the work and find a solution.

Be a positive force in our world.  Recognize what is wrong and seek solutions. Also, recognize what is good and build.  This is the one and only way for positive change in your life, in your workplace, in your community, in our country and in our world!  DO SOMETHING!
