Controllables vs. Uncontrollables

We either use our present and past situations as crutches or as stepping stones. What we do with our circumstances is our choice.  There is always a reason for failure, as well as a path to success.  When we believe that we are born to succeed, we find a way in spite of our circumstances.

We cannot control the family we are born into or its social status.  We cannot control the weather.  We cannot control the actions of our boss or colleagues.  We cannot control our competition and how they are preparing or producing.  We cannot control the reactions of others.  There are a plethora of things in this world that we have no control over. It is a colossal waste of our time to focus on these uncontrollables. I am not saying that we should disregard these things, but we must know what we can and cannot do and focus on the cans.

We control how we react to these uncontrollables.  Successful people respond proactively to these situations.  We may not be able to control the new policies of our company, but we can control how we react to them.  We can adjust our sails and make it work, or we can adjust our sails and find a new job.  To complain about them and fret over the new ways of doing things is a waste of time and energy.  React to this proactively and find a way to make it work.  If you can’t, find a new place to work that has the same values as you.

Too many people complain about the things they cannot control rather than respond to it.  It is important to control the controllables.  Our response in all situations is our ultimate way to handle our situations in life proactively and positively.

Focus on controllables to move forward. We can always find a way to be successful and become happier and more positive.  This allows us to exclusively chase after our goals and the actions we must take to achieve them.  When we are zeroed in on the right things, we can find a way to achieve.  It may not be the course we intended to go, but there is a way if our focus is on the controllables in our life.

Situations that we are placed into are often uncontrollable.  However, what we do within these situations, we can control.  Our actions about things within our control during these times determines our success or failure.  We  can always blame our circumstances for our failures, or we can use these circumstances to teach us and guide us to be successful.  It is our choice.  It may be difficult, but the price we pay will be worth it when we reach our goals.
